Jasmine M. Young founded Melanin in the City in 2017. Young registered MITC as an official LLC in 2019 in the state of Virginia as well as trademarked it. The vision of MITC was always meant to be bigger than just one person because Young wanted to create a network of likeminded individuals who enjoy uplifting one another.
